Seat every guest without the spreadsheet

Add your tables with their seat counts, add your guests with their meal choices, then assign everyone with a click or a dropdown. Fill bars and over-capacity warnings keep every table honest — and the chart prints cleanly for the venue.

0 guests 0 seated 0 unassigned 0 seats total

Tables

Name each table and set its seat count. Rename or resize a table any time — guests stay put.

Guests

Add each guest, then seat them. Click a guest to select them, then click a table to seat them — or use the dropdown on any row.

Tip: click a guest's name to select them, then click a table card on the left to seat them.

How this seating chart planner works

Start with tables: give each one a name and a seat count, then adjust either at any time — renaming or resizing a table never moves the guests already seated there. Next, add your guests with their names and anything the caterer or venue needs to know, such as a meal choice or an allergy; the note rides along with the guest wherever they sit. Seating is done two ways: pick a table from the dropdown on any guest row, or click a guest to select them and then click the table card itself. Both update the chart instantly.

Every table card carries a live fill bar showing how many seats are taken against the table's capacity. When a table fills up the bar turns amber; squeeze one more guest in than there are chairs and the card flags a clear over-capacity warning telling you exactly how many guests need moving or how many seats need adding. The summary strip at the top keeps the running score: total guests, how many are seated, how many are still unassigned, and the total number of seats across all tables.

Everything you do is saved to your browser's local storage the moment you do it, so closing the tab or losing your connection loses nothing — come back tomorrow and the chart is exactly as you left it. When the plan is final, the Print button builds a tidy, venue-ready chart grouped by table with an unassigned-guests list, formatted for paper rather than screen. Wedding seating chart questions

How do I add tables and guests to the chart?

Type a table name and seat count in the Tables panel and click “Add table” — repeat for every table at the venue. Then add guests in the Guests panel with their names and any notes, like a meal choice or an allergy. Seat each guest either by choosing a table from the dropdown on their row, or by clicking the guest and then clicking a table card.

What happens if I assign more guests than a table has seats?

The table card immediately shows a red over-capacity warning telling you exactly how many guests are over the seat count, and its fill bar turns red. The planner never blocks you — sometimes a last-minute plus-one has to sit somewhere — but you can see at a glance which tables need fixing before the venue gets the chart.

Is my seating chart saved if I close the page?

Yes. Every change is saved to your browser's local storage automatically, so your tables, guests, notes, seat assignments and the event name are all still there when you come back on the same device and browser. Nothing is uploaded anywhere — if you switch devices, use the Print button to carry a paper copy across.

Can I track meal choices or dietary needs per guest?

Yes — the note field on each guest is made for exactly that. Type “beef”, “vegetarian”, “nut allergy” or anything else when you add the guest, and the note appears beside their name both in the planner and on the printed chart, so the caterer can see it too.

How do I print the final seating chart for the venue?

Click “Print seating chart”. The planner generates a paper-friendly layout grouped by table with a guest count per table, plus a separate list of any unassigned guests, and opens your browser's print dialog. The event name you typed in the summary bar appears as the chart's title.

How do I find guests I haven't seated yet?

Use the “Unassigned” filter button above the guest list to show only guests with no table. Guests without a table also show an “Unassigned” badge on their row, and the summary strip at the top always shows the current unassigned count.
